Hardware Devices

DigiFX publishes a hardware line built around the platform runtime. The devices fall into three functional groups: broadcast units, power and storage, and interface and security peripherals.

01Broadcast units

DFX Archway — described as a wireless hotspot device for runtime environments, providing connectivity for a deployed experience.

DFX Stargate — an immersive broadcast box for delivering runtime environments as broadcast output.

DFX Astro G — labeled the flagship broadcast solution on the product pages, which describe it as redefining the standards of immersive content delivery. The pages state no capability relationship between Astro G and Stargate.

The three overlap in category labeling on the product pages, so treat Archway as the connectivity unit and Stargate and Astro G as the broadcast units. How the two broadcast units differ in practice is not something the published pages establish.

02Power and storage

DFX CyberPack — a mobile power solution for keeping a deployment running away from mains power.

DFX DataCore — a combined storage and power unit, intended to hold working data and supply power in the same enclosure.

DFX Memory — a memory module extension for expanding an existing system's capacity.

DFX Speed — a processing module extension for adding compute to an existing system.

Memory and Speed are extensions rather than standalone units. They are designed to augment infrastructure a customer already has rather than replace it.

03Interface and security

DFX SkyLock — a network encryption dongle for securing network communications during a deployment.

DFX Lightwave — an interactive touchscreen display, aimed at collaborative and walk-up interaction inside a venue.

04How hardware relates to the runtime

Two components in the platform catalog are the software side of this line. The Main Capture System handles lidar scanning, anchor systems, and the API surface those feed. The Main Controller System handles hardware configuration for wearables, controllers, mobile devices, and external gear. Several Environment+ components — active spatial mapping, lidar environmental capture, environmental classification — depend on lidar-capable hardware to function at all.

That dependency is the practical point: an environment that uses spatial mapping needs a capture-capable device in the room. An environment that only presents content does not.

05Third-party hardware

The platform's published FAQ states that the platform is designed to work with a range of third-party VR and AR headsets and integrates with major development environments. Confirm the current supported-device list with DigiFX before committing a project to specific headset hardware — that list changes with each hardware generation and the published page has not been dated.
