Player Avatars

2 min read·Article 06 / 12

Player avatars are the characters people occupy inside an environment. They serve two purposes at once: identity for the individual, and brand expression for the operator running the experience.

01The avatar catalog

digifx.com/player publishes the character collection as a filterable grid. Each entry carries a price starting at $2.99 and a "Learn More" link to its detail view. The catalog header offers an "All Characters" view plus a set of filter groups for narrowing the grid.

The platform overview positions the catalog as brand-facing rather than purely cosmetic. Its three stated uses are broadcasting and simulating promotional content, sharing live streams inside immersive environments, and customizing characters to match a brand identity. In other words, an avatar here is closer to a presenter or a mascot than to a game character.

02Avatars in Social Construct

The Social Construct documentation describes the same catalog from the community side. Characters range from stylized science-fiction agents through fantasy figures, and each can be personalized with accessories, outfits, and features. Progression is documented separately, on the profile rather than the character: members earn experience points (XP) by completing quests, level up their profiles, and unlock new features, privileges, and recognition. The documentation does not say whether any of that recognition is displayed on the avatar itself.

03What avatars are used for

Three patterns appear consistently across the platform documentation:

Presenting. An avatar fronts a broadcast or a guided tour inside an environment, either driven live by an operator or deployed as an animated runtime character.

Representing. A visitor picks a character on entry and uses it as their identity across environments, carrying progression and achievements with them.

Branding. An operator commissions or customizes characters that match a brand's visual identity, so the same figure appears across storefront, broadcast, and social surfaces.

04Deployment

Avatars are deployed at runtime rather than baked into an environment build. The platform's capture-and-share workflow describes syncing dynamic recordings, deploying animated avatars at runtime, and sharing the result to external social platforms — so the same character can appear in a live environment and in the clip that gets posted afterward.

05Choosing characters for a campaign

Pick characters against the environment's tone before picking against the brand's palette. A storefront environment and an escape-room environment ask for very different figures, and a character that reads well in a static product grid may not read at all in motion. Where a campaign spans several environments, keeping one recurring character across all of them is generally more effective than a different figure per surface.
